Polytetrafluoroethylene (Poly tetra fluoroethylene, abbreviated as PTFE), commonly known as "Plastic King", is a polymer prepared by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene as a monomer. White waxy, translucent, excellent heat and cold resistance, and can be used for a long time at -180~260ºC. This material is resistant to acids, alkalis, and various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. At the same time, PTFE has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, its friction coefficient is very low, so it can be used as a lubricating effect, and it has also become an ideal coating for easy cleaning of the inner layer of water pipes; it is toxic and carcinogenic to the human body.
According to the list of carcinogens of the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization, polytetrafluoroethylene is classified as three types of carcinogens, that is, it is not clear about its carcinogenic effects on humans.
Property data editing
1. Properties: There are three types of granular, powder and dispersion. It is transparent when it is neutral, and the thickness increases to become off-white
2. Density (g/mL, 25ºC): 2.1~2.3
3. Relative vapor density (g/mL, air=1): not determined
4. Melting point (ºC): 327
5. Boiling point (ºC, normal pressure): 400
6. Boiling point (ºC, 5.2kPa): not determined
7. Refractive index: 1.37 (20ºC)
8. Solubility: insoluble in any solvent
Nature and stabilityedit
1. Stable under normal temperature and pressure, avoid humidity, heat and high temperature
There is no real melting point, and it decomposes slowly above 450℃ and becomes a gas directly. At 327°C, the mechanical strength suddenly disappeared. Insoluble in any solvents. In addition to reacting with molten alkali metals, it is not corroded by any substance, even if it is boiled in hydrofluoric acid, aqua r
